Living in Vienna, Virginia

The town of Vienna is located about 12 miles southwest of Washington DC. About 17,000 residents live within the incorporated city limits of the town, with many more sharing the three zipcodes (22180, 22181, 22182) that are also known as Vienna. Well-known among the DC suburbs, Vienna enjoys a small-town feel and walkable streets, lined with shops and restaurants. The community embraces the natural environment, with a 45-mile park (the Washington & Old Dominion Railroad Regional Park) and a bike path cutting through the center of town. Vienna offers convenient access to all the nation’s capital has to offer.

In 2013, Vienna was proud to be named 3rd best town to live in by Time Magazine and CNN Money Magazine. Phenomenal public schools, a welcoming downtown with many small businesses, a DC Metro station (Orange line), and many close-knit neighborhoods all make Vienna the town it is today. The town is well-known for its familial warmth and residents mark the year with several immutable dates on the calendar, including “Viva Vienna” over Memorial Day weekend, the July 4th Fireworks and all-day chili cook-off, the renowned Halloween parade, and the pre-Christmas Church Street walk.

Just to the east of Vienna is Tysons, one of the most vibrant and fastest growing commercial centers in the US. Many residents of Vienna enjoy a 5-minute commute to work at Tysons — home to high end shopping venues, restaurants to satisfy any taste, and an enormous array of high tech and Fortune 500 companies.

Vienna is also home to the renowned Wolftrap Center for the Performing Arts, an open air concert venue founded in 1966. Residents of Vienna, as well as visitors from across the world, travel to Wolf Trap to enjoy world-class theatre under the stars.
